Worth Keeping by Susan Mac Nicol
I have read all of Susan Mac Nicol's books and this has always been my favourite.
Not sure why, they are all brilliant but there is just something about this one....
Nick lives alone at the lighthouse, trying to come to terms with the horrors of his past, his father Don keeps a watchful eye on him and knows that his pet Socks keeps him company.
When he is considering his life one night he finds Owen washed up on the beach, an attempted suicide gone wrong.
Having someone to look after keep him from musing about his own sad life for once and gradually the men start to heal together.
Dacing past demons isn't something Nick wants to do but sometimes you dont have a choice.
I loved the humour that the little monkey brings to the story and also the other relationships in the book. The whole thing is a fabulous read and one that I know I will always revisit.
5 out of 5 stars.
