RESISTANCE (village love #1) by Lillian Francis
Ok so let's start by getting the name of the village out of the way.
Rick lives in Slopy Bottom!!!!!
To be honest, as soon as I read this I knew it was going to be a good book, this sort of thing does make me chuckle.
Rick lives in a picture postcard village, in a beautiful cottage and is the local handyman.
The residents of the village all know each other and he has lived there his whole life.
Not wanting to risk their opinions he has kept his sexual preferences to himself but when Mal, the beautiful radiographer he is seeing, comes to visit, things start to get a bit complicated.
He introduces him as a friend but Mal starts to notice things about certain villagers and realises that Rick might not be the only gay man in this particular village.
Mal seems to be getting comfortable with the slower pace of life on his visits and the locals welcome him in, any friend of Rick's can't be bad after all.
Slowly but surely the relationship develops to the point where Rick is wondering why he decided to hide things in the first place.
Will the villagers accept him once they find out?
This is a good, honest book about two men finding their place in life and what their future might hold if they let it.
You feel like you are part of the story and you can easily picture yourself in the local pub or having a cuppa with the neighbours.
4 out of 5 stars.
