A Different Light by Morningstar Ashley

This is a beautiful story of two young boys living different lives, one talented and smart, the other one constantly being told to be more like him.

For Mac, being his own person was never enough for his family. He was always told he should be more like his nerdy neighbour Bennett. When you're a young boy, never being enough will affect the way you see things, so as much as he crushed on Bennett, he hated him as well.

Bennett was totally oblivious as to why the gorgeous boy next door was always being mean to him. As they grew up, the taunting got worse and when Bennett suffers an unspeakable attack, Mac wants nothing more to be by his side but it's too late....

All grown up, both men have moved on but when thrust together, they soon realise that old feelings are hard to move on from.

It's hard to imagine what Bennett went through but the author describes it in such a way that we almost live through the pain with him. We also see things from Mac's side, the regrets he has lived with and the way his life has somehow always been on hold.

A lovely story of two men who somehow find a way to overcome the past and look to the future, the question is, will it be a happy one?

I am looking forward to seeing how this series progresses.
